Highlights
Art:
Too dark and wierd character design.
Plot: Wasted potential.
Characters: Quirky but uninteresting.
Lenght: Short and sweet.

I was excited to hear that this title was done by Hideo Yamamoto, being him one of my favorite mangakas. So I started Voyeur with hopes of having the thrills I had with previous works I have read by him (Koroshiya 1 and Homunculus) only to find that this work isn’t as engaging or as shocking.

The reason for this is simply a lack of interesting characters. The plot itself is interesting, but a voyeur isn’t really intriguing and when the one been stalked is as interesting as the stalker, there is shortage of reasons to keep reading it. A few good reasons on why to read it, is that toward the end, things pick up and get real serious, but this joy lasts but only for a moment, and leaves the door wide open for a sequel, that was released later on.

Artistically, it is clear that this was one of Hideo Yamamoto’s first works since the level of detail and style aren’t as refined as in his later works. The art also made me think of Akira during some scenes because of the similarity between the character designs in Voyeur and the ones by Katsuhiro Otomo.

Voyeur is not quite I expected but it was entertaining and had a few funny moments even, it is also a must if you want to read its sequel. But besides this two reasons you can skip this one and go straight toward his later titles.
