A 20th Century Boys movie would have to be either 9 hours a long or a trilogy type thing to do the story any justice at all.

The same problem for Monster, after hearing that a Hollywood adaptation may be in the works.

Sorry for going off-topic guyz, but I need to say something sometimes :( .

Forget about going off-topic, this is a free board. No one has the right to tell you to stay on topic, especially if you're still adding something, yet not being obtrusive or obnoxious.

Oh, you know what other manga shouldn't have been made into an anime?

Suzuka. -_-

Much to my chagrin. It's one of those series that holds a special place in my heart. If you ask me, I wouldn't know why.

I have to say though, I'm a huge fan of manga. I think everything is better in manga format.

I think everything is better in film format. Go figure. Ever tried watching a film/anime and then reading the manga counterpart? Cough Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion...and so on. I think I'm biased, though, because I'm a motion-picture guy.

Yeah, I like anime much better personally. I think there's a dimension that's sorely missing in manga inherently - that it cannot impact on visceral things like music, sound, and animation. When dealing with something like manga, it's going to be different from a novel in that it doesn't offer the freedom of imagination as a book does. Everything that's said in manga is accompanied by a visual image, so it necessarily stints that facet of imagination that novels contain. On the other hand, it can't quite compete with full-fledged animation because it's only pictures and words - storyboards and a script, if you will. And while this may just be me, I don't feel the, err, epic-ness in manga that I feel in anime. So for me, manga lies in this weird middle ground, where it can't take advantage of the benefits of a novel while being constrained from the benefits of film. Of course, this is all IMO, YMMV, etc...

Wow, I just realized how off-topic my post is. This discussion deserves its own thread.

Tama: I'd have to disagree with you on Evangelion.

RC: SAGE

I can see why people don't like manga, especially sports manga. ...YOU CAN'T SEE THE ACTION. Horizontal lines =/= Action.

I like manga though, since I read/watch mostly slice-of-life, and manga definitely captures the mood better.

I believe the creator of Marmalade Boy admitted that she didn't like the anime.
Anyway, I wish they made the Berserk anime faithful to the anime. I wish they also continued the Hajime no Ippo anime as well. Where the anime ends is where the manga gets really exciting and just only gets better.

I also wish they also included the real ending to Hokuto no Ken like show the brief story arc when Ken meets Ryu, his nephew (Raoh's son) and when he loses his memory and has to save Batto and Rin again but he uses Hokuto Shinken out of coincidence.
