Frankly, I never bothered to write one what with it being a gigantic waste of time and all.

Seriously.

Waste. Of. Time.

Assignment: 1st person story from the perspective of a Japanese boy inside the internment camps in WWII in America

Me:

But I think it turned out alright, probably my "best" paper since I haven't gotten into the habit of consistently putting in real effort (and any other assignment I've done which would be thought of as better is boring in that wonderful academic way).

Oh, and this was high school sophomore year, but it's not like anyone else is contributing.

Edit: Now posted as an attachment rather than a link

I'll post mine from last semester if someone increases the size limit on PDF attachments to 100 KB. Guests aren't allowed to view attachments, correct?

Put it on Rapidshare or something.  Or just copypasta it into however many posts you need if it's an essay with no images.

Rofl, Tyrdium.

No, I was just interested in what people were writing. I've already written mine for five colleges--I've done the "big" one. I've got two left, and they are only supplementary essays for two colleges. I've got about 20 hours left to do them, and I fell asleep so that's bad bad bad.

I think it's safe if you can make your essay into an image or something, so yea, search engines can't pick it up, or put it into an attachment (don't know if that's safe). I don't know what I'm talking about!

Oh, that's what you meant by college essays?

Bah.

In that case you're not getting it.

Thread Revival

Since I've already applied to University of Chicago, I'll post my essay here, mainly because it's my worst one and I don't want people leeching my good ones, lest it become a problem with my actual decision. Plus, this is the most half-assed one because I'm only applying to Chicago due to me sending my ACT scored to them accidentally and not wanting to waste 8 bucks.

lol@paint.

Prompt: Chicago professor W. J. T. Mitchell entitled his 2005 book "What Do Pictures Want?" Describe a picture and explore what it wants.

Lol, I sound like a total wapanese; I picked that specific picture because I wanted to be unconventional and I found it haphazardly on wikipedia, and figured it'd be pseudo-original.

You have to write essays to get into colleges over in the USA? Nasty. :(

Over here in UK, we don't have to do that. Just have to go through an application system called UCAS.

We fill in our details (grades, expected grades, personal info, etc), along with 6 choices for colleges. Once that's all processed, the colleges will get back to ya, and send you an offer, probably an conditional offer (get the needed grades, get in). You then choose a first choice and a second choice. The first choice is the one you'll prob get in if everything goes okay. Its best to put a lower requirement course for backup as your 2nd choice. Simple system I think

The only places you might have to do essays, would be for the big 2, Oxford/Cambridge
