How's it going?
« on: August 22, 2006, 09:21:51 AM »
I haven't checked up on anime for over a year, so I'm just asking: how's it going with the music? Is there still a few gems like Ghost in the Shell: SAC or Noir or Hack Sign? Have new composers come on the scene, and what's happened to Kajiura and Kanno?

Kanno is still kicking ass and taking names. Her more recent works like "23ji no Ongaku" are just as good, if not better, than her works of the past.

In terms of OSTs, I can't wait for a FLAG OST to be released, this new anime has some great music in it and only two episodes are out. Hopefully they keep up the quality.
I fell off the wagon and now I can't stop.

Lately, I've been impressed with the Ouran soundtrack.  With entertaining and self-contained pieces of classical music written by Hirano Yoshihisa, the Ouran OST doesn't disappoint at all.  The only thing that I wish was different about it is the length of each piece.  They are very beautiful, and I'd like to hear more.

Other than that, the soundtrack for Fantastic Children is the only one I can remember hearing and thinking to myself, "this is really nice."  Or maybe it's just that the ending theme caught my attention.  It's really beautiful.
