Favorite Song Lyrics
« on: July 15, 2006, 03:58:38 PM »
Post your favorite song lyrics here, and please specify the name of the song, artist, and, if possible, album some way to link to the song..  More than one excerpt per song is permissable.

Song: Catalyst, Artist: Anna Nalick, Album: Wreck of the Day
Lyrics: You'll be the vein/You'll be the pain/ You'll be the scar/ You'll be the road/Rollin' below/the wheels of a car/ and all of your thoughts on God?/Don't know if I'm strong enough now/You'll be the vein/You'll be the pain/You'll be the Catalyst

Lyrics(part two): So you take all your pills/just to fill up your soul/and you're drinkin' 'em down/ with cheap alchohol/and I'd be inclined to be yours for the takin'/and part of this terrable mess that you're makin'/but me?/ I'm the Catalyst

Link: Ignore the fact that it's a Gravitation AMV, it's all I could find.

Song: Mad World, Artist: Gary Jules/Tears for Fears (depending on the version), Album: ???

Lyrics: And I find it kinda funny/I find it kinda sad/That the dreams in which I'm dying/are the best I've ever had

Link: Ignore the visual, it sucks.

Song: Fly Me to the Moon by his awesomeness Frank Sinatra

Lyrics:

Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words hold my hand
In other words darling kiss me

Fill my life with song
And let me sing forevermore
You are all I hope for
All I worship and adore
In other words please be true
In other words I love you
I fell off the wagon and now I can't stop.

Wannabe, by the notoriously-gangsta-licious 'Spice Girls'.

Yo, I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I'll tell you what I want, what I really really want,
So tell me what you want, what you really really want,
I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really
really really wanna zigazig ha.

Two words: CRUNK. ASS.

<.<
"When I think about you I touch myself, ohhh"
>.>

Just kidding. Honestly though?

"How many years since you found yourself
Staring at an endless sky?

Unaware of yourself
Who you are and where you're going
Only living
Only breathing
Losing all sense of time

The most fragile of things
Captivates and embraces you
Surrender and be witness
To this rarest of moments

You live within the sense of the order of things
What is truth
What is important
What defines you

No need to fear
No need to worry
About years that passed
About time you lost

Live seconds as a lifetime
Time it does not matter
You live within the sense
Of the stillness of time"

<3 Pachi !!!!!!!

Anyways, here are my favorite lyrics, ever:

She's not a girl who misses much
Do do do do do do do do, oh yeah
She's well acquainted with the touch of the velvet hand
Like a lizard on a window pane
The man in the crowd with the multicoloured mirrors
On his hobnail boots
Lying with his eyes while his hands are busy
Working overtime
A soap impression of his wife which he ate
And donated to the National Trust

Down
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down
Down to the bits that I left uptown
I need a fix 'cause I'm going down

Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun
Mother Superior jump the gun

Happiness is a warm gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
When I hold you in my arms (Oo-oo oh yeah)
And I feel my finger on your trigger (Oo-oo oh yeah)
I know no one can do me no harm (Oo-oo oh yeah)
Because happiness is a warm gun, mama (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm gun, yes it is (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Happiness is a warm, yes it is, gun (Happiness bang, bang, shoot, shoot)
Well, don't you know happiness is a warm gun, mama? (Happiness is a warm gun, yeah)

- Happiness is a Warm Gun, The Beatles

(don't think it'll be easy to find a direct link to the song...so like, d/l it or something)

I like the lyrics because it's unique and eye-opening. She's "well-acquainted" with the touch of the velvet hand? Multi-colored mirrors, hobnail boots? A soap impression of his wife? It's either symbolic or crazy, I don't know which!

I'd really like to post the complete lyrics of X Japan's Art of Life, but that might take up a bit too much room.  Just a bit.

So I'll post some of my favorite lyrics from a song full of them.  I really love the imagery in this section:

You can't draw a picture of yesterday, so you're painting your heart with your blood
you can't say "No"
only turning the wheel of time with a rope around your neck
you build a wall of mortality and take a breath from between the bricks
you make up imaginary enemies and are chased by them
you're trying to commit suicide
you're satisfied with your prologue, now you're painting your first chapter black
you are putting the scraps of life together and trying to make an asylum for yourself
you're hitting a bell at the edge of the stage and
you are trying to kill me

Link: Art of Life (live).  The only live performance they ever did of this song (for obvious reasons!).

Another favorite: Dir en grey's ain't afraid to die.  This song has beautiful lyrics and a beautiful melody.  One section I love in particular:

Shiki to kimi no iro yagate kieru
(The colors of you have finally disappeared with the four seasons)

I love this line for its simple truth.  The song is about the sense of loss after a beloved person dies, and this line so perfectly expresses the gradual fading of precious memories as that person disappears from your life over time.  While that person is still on your mind, you begin to forget the small things that you treasured about them, the "colors" of them.

Link: ain't afraid to die.  A very beautiful song.

Quote from: ReadorDie
Song: Mad World, Artist: Gary Jules/Tears for Fears (depending on the version), Album: ???

Link: Ignore the visual, it sucks.
Which version is that in the link, the original or the cover?  It's the first time I've heard the song, and I'm really, really digging that version.

I love Art of Life, by the way. It's just a really well-written song. My only complaint though is that the lyrics are on the edge of being emo...well, that's kind of X Japan's style ~.~

On a more serious side (XD), these lyrics describe me, personally.
They are by this magnificent woman:

THe song is titled Nothing Fails.
It is on the album American Life.
It was released as a single, but was VERY poorly executed, didn't have a video, and wasn't promoted much/if not at all. It's sad because this was one of the album's best songs, IMHOOOO.

Chorus:
Nothing fails
No more fears
Nothing fails
You washed away my tears
Nothing fails
No more fears
Nothing fails
Nothing fails

I'm not religious
But I feel so moved
Makes me want to pray
Pray you'll always be here

I'm not religious
But I feel such love
Makes me want to pray

It's very acoustic, and very pretty. =D Should listen.

It was just after dark when the truck started down
the hill that leads into Scranton Pennsylvania.
Carrying thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Carrying thirty thousand pounds (hit it Big John) of bananas.

He was a young driver,
just out on his second job.
And he was carrying the next day's pasty fruits
for everyone in that coal-scarred city
where children play without despair
in backyard slag-piles and folks manage to eat each day
about thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, just about thirty thousand pounds (scream it again, John) .

He passed a sign that he should have seen,
saying "shift to low gear, a fifty dollar fine my friend."
He was thinking perhaps about the warm-breathed woman
who was waiting at the journey's end.
He started down the two mile drop,
the curving road that wound from the top of the hill.
He was pushing on through the shortening miles that ran down to the depot.
Just a few more miles to go,
then he'd go home and have her ease his long, cramped day away.
and the smell of thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes the smell of thirty thousand pounds of bananas.

He was picking speed as the city spread its twinkling lights below him.
But he paid no heed as the shivering thoughts of the nights
delights went through him.
His foot nudged the brakes to slow him down.
But the pedal floored easy without a sound.
He said "Christ!"
It was funny how he had named the only man who could save him now.
He was trapped inside a dead-end hellslide,
riding on his fear-hunched back
was every one of those yellow green
I'm telling you thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, there were thirty thousand pounds of bananas.

He barely made the sweeping curve that led into the steepest grade.
And he missed the thankful passing bus at ninety miles an hour.
And he said "God, make it a dream!"
as he rode his last ride down.
And he said "God, make it a dream!"
as he rode his last ride down.
And he sideswiped nineteen neat parked cars,
clipped off thirteen telephone poles,
hit two houses, bruised eight trees,
and Blue-Crossed seven people.
it was then he lost his head,
not to mention an arm or two before he stopped.
And he slid for four hundred yards
along the hill that leads into Scranton, Pennsylvania.
All those thirty thousand pounds of bananas.

You know the man who told me about it on the bus,
as it went up the hill out of Scranton, Pennsylvania,
he shrugged his shoulders, he shook his head,
and he said (and this is exactly what he said)
"Boy that sure must've been something.
Just imagine thirty thousand pounds of bananas.
Yes, there were thirty thousand pounds of mashed bananas.
Of bananas. Just bananas. Thirty thousand pounds.
of Bananas. not no driver now. Just bananas!"

Damn, Seven's post reminded me of two great story-teller songs: Hurricane by Bob Dylan and Alice's Restaurant. Check those out!

Okay, here's a post without the full lyrics to the songs, just snippets that I like.

What is Love by Haddaway

"What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more"

Why: I really don't know. I find it humourous?

Endless Skies by VNV Nation

How many years since you found yourself
Staring at an endless sky?

Unaware of yourself
Who you are and where you're going
Only living
Only breathing
Losing all sense of time

Why: Zee lyrics, zey make me feel relaxed. I can kinda veg out and stare at nothing and not have to think about squat.

Know Your Enemy by Rage Against the Machine

Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams

Why: I feel rebellious.

Lemon Demon - The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny

Old Godzilla was hopping around
Tokyo City like a big playground
when suddenly Batman burst from the shade
and hit Godzilla with a Batgrenade
Godzilla got pissed and began to attack
but didn't expect to be blocked by Shaq
who proceeded to open up a can of Shaq Fu
when Aaron Carter came out of the blue

and he started beating up Shaquille O'Neal
then they both got flattened by the Batmobile
but before it could make it back to the Batcave
Abraham Lincoln popped out of his grave
and took an AK47 out from under his hat
and blew Batman away with a rat-a-tat-tat
but he ran out of bullets and he ran away
because Optimus Prime came to save the day

this is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
good guys, bad guys, and explosions as far as the eye can see
and only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
this is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny

Godzilla took a bite out of Optimus Prime
like Scruff McGruff took a bite out of crime
and then Shaq came back covered in a tire track
but Jackie Chan jumped out and landed on his back
and Batman was injured, and trying to get steady
when Abraham Lincoln came back with a machete
but suddenly something caught his leg and he tripped
Indiana Jones took him out with his whip

then he saw Godzilla sneaking up from behind
and he reached for his gun which he just couldn't find
'cause Batman stole it and he shot and he missed
and Jackie Chan deflected it with his fist
then he jumped in the air and did a summersault
while Abraham Lincoln tried to pole vault
onto Optimus Prime, but they collided in the air
then they both got hit by a Care Bear Stare, oooh

this is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
good guys, bad guys, and explosions as far as the eye can see
and only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
this is the Ultimate Showdown...

angels sang out in immaculate chorus
down from the heavens descended Chuck Norris
who deliver a kick which could shatter bones
into the crotch of Indiana Jones
who fell over on the ground, writhing in pain
as Batman changed back into Bruce Wayne
but Chuck saw through his clever disguise
and he crushed Batman's head in between his thighs

then Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White and
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail"'s Black Knight and
Benito Mussolini and The Blue Meanie and
Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie
Robocop, the Terminator, Captain Kirk, and Darth Vader
Lo Pan, Superman, every single Power Ranger
Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan,
Spock, The Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan
all came out of no where lightning fast
and they kicked Chuck Norris in his cowboy ass
it was the bloodiest battle the world ever saw
with civilians looking on total awe

and the fight raged on for a century
many lives were claimed, but eventually
the champion stood, the rest saw their better:
Mr. Rogers in a bloodstained sweater

this is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
good guys, bad guys, and explosions as far as the eye can see
and only one will survive, I wonder who it will be
this is the Ultimate Showdown...
this is the Ultimate Showdown...
this is the Ultimate Showdown...
of Ultimate Destiny

Owns you.  OWNS YOU.

Order is shattered in a strange gutteral tone resounded along the walls of the houses, which seemed dead and deserted, while, behind the closed shutters, eyes watched the conquerers, who, by right of war, were now masters of the city - of the lives and fortunes of its people.

In their darkened ruins the inhabitants have given way to the same feeling of panic which is aroused by natural cataclysms. Those devestating upheavals of the Earth, against which wisdom and strength alike are of no avail.

For the same feeling is experienced wherever the established order of things is upset, when security ceases to exist, when all that was previously protected by the laws of man or nature is suddenly placed at the mercy of brutal, unreasoning force:

The earthquake, burying a whole people beneath the ruins of their houses; the river in spate, sweeping the bodies of drowned peasants, together with the carcasses of cattle and rafters torn from roofs; or the victorious army slaughtering all who resist, making prisoners of the rest, looting by right of the sword, and thanking their god to the sound of cannon.

All these are terrifying scourges which undermine all our belief in eternal justice and all the trust we have been tought to place in divine protection and human reason.

Ummm.... I can't post the entire lyrics of a 2 CD album of 22 songs can I?

The thing is that Ayeron's: The Human Equation , is one of those albums that is a story, so it is like a short book.

But if you want me to post a single song then... It has to be:

The Divine burning of angels by The Project Hate MCMXCIX

Die!!
She was my poor angel, I knew her well
I really had no choice than (to) take her to my hell
As soulless as I am, as soulless as it gets
I don't give a f u c k how she felt
I saw her pretty pale angelface
And erased it from my memory forever
I saw her burn, fed her with flames
The divine burning of angels

Think those grieving thoughts
Feel your pain before
You watch the sun set forevermore
Our lives grow short, our lives grow dark
As the longing re-appears in our hearts

She was my dear angel, I had her killed
I needed her soul to get my own fulfilled
She was like blood, she brought me lust
Her soul I now f u c k!

Think those grieving thoughts
Feel your pain before
You watch the sun set forevermore
Our lives grow short, our lives grow dark
As the longing re-appears in our hearts

I feel her trembling, inside my soul's on fire
Now I suffer from my hellish desire
Silence is broken, I hear her scream my name
She'll live forever in my mind insane

In rapture I remain as the wickedness stays the same
Inside my soul insane, I am reborn, I am reborn
In rapture I remain as the wickedness stays the same
Inside my soul insane, I am reborn

Yeah!

God bless you sweet angel with my flesh
Inside me forever, your devil's nest
My body, your soul, now together as one
Just accept your loss, I have won
You scream in pain, I laugh out high
I cannot fear a god's parasite
I watch you burn, feed you with flames
And continue...
The divine burning of angels
