So Tama tells me youy're getting rid of game reviews, therefore eliminating any chance I ever had of becoming a reviewer again. Goody. The reasoning for this?

C'est lies!

We just need to find somebody who has a good command of English and doesn't play lame video games. A tough combo.

This is news to me, but I call it bullshit!

Welcome, UZ. We might be tossing the game section soon in favor of a
Live
Action section, so sorry, applications are not available. ;-;

OK, so he said he "Might" toss it. Still.

And I think the whole "Lame Video Games" thing disqualifies me since I own a Gamecube.

I was given the impression that the section was doomed, nonetheless. Finding one "good reviewer" will not cut it. We need a whole group of "good reviewers" to save that section.

There are two problems with the "Games" section as I see it, the more obvious one being that no one in our current staff writes game reviews regularly.  The less obvious one is that there are a million and one gaming review sites with infinitely more resources and (thus) more dedicated writers, not to mention the hundreds of monthly gaming magazines for all platforms available (and, in a sense required) to keep up with the gaming industry.  Games are huge in English speaking countries.  We can have a staff of < 10 and expect to be able to reasonably keep up  to date with anime, Jmusic and OSTs (and, potentially, live action).  We can't with games.

As I see it, Live Action is an interesting medium in that it doesn't get a great deal of attention outside Japan, and there isn't an over-abundance of English-written literature available for it on the web, which would potentially make us a very valuable resource for fans.  I also think it fits our "Nihon" image far better than games does.

I think what really seals it for "Live Action" is that we've already had several of our current reviewers put their hands up saying that they're willing to contribute to the section.  We just don't get that sort of response with "Games"... even after appealing to the outside world.

Live Action > Games IMO

...

I second all of Sorrow-kun`s opinions.

Meh. I suppose so.

But then, I'm not even sure what "Live Action" is supposed to mean.

You know the stuff on TV, that's not cartoons?  That's called "Live Action."

When in doubt, speak Italian and sing "Seven Nation Army"

We are talking about stuff like Densha Otoko and Zatoichi right? I don`t want to be the poor guy who has to review the Hong Kong dub of Friends...

That's right.  Movies as well.  Ringu and Kurosawa Akira's movies are open game.  In other words, anything that's Japanese.

I just remembered I'm taking a class in the fall where I watch Japanese movies.  I think I'll be writing some live action reviews.
