I need a task force. A group of people that are willing to spend at least one hour everyday doing one thing and one thing only: advertise and promote our site. I will lead the team, but I may have to be replaced soon because 1. I have no idea what I'm going to do and 2. I don't have that much free time.

Anyone interested in kicking some ass? Post.

Go on i'm interested.. I presume this is online. Also the times will have to be discussed as i have an forensic science degree to work for. But if its only for 1 hour, i might go along with it. Details?

I'm not too sure yet but I have this reserved energy that I want to spend bashing people's faces with our site. The main methods will be: forum advertisement, website affiliations, Wikipedia (or any open source site) direct linking, and search engines. If one spends an hour each day doing just advertising, I think a lot can be done.

Okay, going through it piece by piece

Forum Advertisement- You mean just advertising it in your sig? Because most forums won't allow blatant advertisements of other forums (imagine what would happen if you put a nihonreview thread up at AA, all hell would break loose, and that's after erigon has gotten to it)

website affiliations- wouldn't that be more up to you admins?, because i don't think us lowly grunts have any right to seek links to this site.

Wikipedia- can you do that Wikipedia? (i thought it was an enclyopedia) "lightbulb", do you intend to get an entry for Nihon review?

Search engines- personally i don't know that's done,i wonder what affects the order search engines such as google put you in a search?

Or just a side comment or something. Unless there are specific categories that say "advertise here", I'd suggest putting it up in signatures at popular places (lets get us some furries and some bastards from Gaia) and the like.

^ good point. I'll work more on that.

God bless Wikipedia and it's ease of use. One can edit any page on any entry in Wikipedia. Post blatant links.

Search Engines are tough. I'll work on that as well.

DO IT AND VOLUNTEER FOR GREAT JUSTICE!

The sig placement should be easy, there's two forums i rarely go too, which i should continue with. And i already have it in all my sigs. If anyone could make me an pic to go with it, it would make it stand out more.

Oh what the hell, i must be crazy, but i'll volunteer (although you can't expect mass members coming here).

Oh yeah, this might be more into the future, but if you guys are going to the Octakon. Then why don't you advertise there (i.e. just print out a crap load of buisness cards and give them to everyone).

another point, if you want publicity, you have to get the big AA members in. You must know a few members who would be willing to give this forum a chance. And talking about members there are still quite a few AMG sigs out there.

Pheld has answered most of the questions. But wikipedia: you can put a direct link to a review at the bottom of the page where it says link. If we put up direct links to reviews in as many different entries as possible, we'll increase our chances of being read through Wiki. But of course, to make this more effective, we would need more reviews, especially Music reviews because everyone digs looking up artists/bands's histories.

EDIT: Note that it's not the forums that we are advertising, it is the site. If we don't get readers for what really counts, our forums mean nothing. AA only has a couple hundred active members in the forums BUT they have thousands of readers everyday.

Otakon is a long way from now and I'm hoping that we establish a good fanbase by then, but hoping is pointless unless some action is taken. Either way, we will certainly try our best to promote our site at Otakon, and if things go our way, we'll get a panel. (ps: We can't get press passes until next year, Otakon 2007...so I don't know about the panel thing...)

I can help advertise for an hour per day after I'm done with finals in 2-2.5 weeks.  Hopefully, I will have the time to do this next semester as well.  I'll do just about anything I can for the site.  Do remember that I can't do anything with coding or art.

I'm in.  Daryl, I'll make you a sig.  Any specific character you want on it?

I'll join a few more forums and advertise, and I'll talk to a guy I know about affiliating with his site.  Do we have any new buttons to go along with the new site name?

Anyways, I'm going to work right now.  :)

Edit-  Ok, just to update.  I've put .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet, Angelic Layer, Animation Runner Kuromi, Appleseed, Arjuna, Berserk, Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie, Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card, Castle in the Sky (Daryl did this one), Comic Party, and Elfen Lied into Wikipedia.  I also put in both of GS's reviews from the Music section.   :joy:

Updated-  Wiki now has Advent Children - He is My Master.

I'll start work on your sig.

Edit-

Your sig...  I'm hoping it'll attract some attention.  ;)

Thanks, what about a character from Read Or Die? (possibly Yomiko Readman) If you want a non-anime character, what about Albert Wesker from Resident Evil 4?

I like the idea of a title

Update:

Dead or Alive 3
Wolf's Rain
To Heart
The Cat Returns
Spirited Away
Speed Grapher
Shingetsutan Tsukihime
School Rumble

Well that's me finished for now, see ya later

I think you guys should stop.

If you check your work again, you'll notice that they're gone. I guess that plan failed. :(
We were able to spare about 2 or 3 links...but that's all.

Sorry. :( I'll come up with a better idea...The Wiki kids are getting pissed at our spamming.

If possible, I would like to meet all volunteers on IRC in #nihonreview (server: irc.neovanglist.net port 6667) around 7-8PM EST. Thanks!

Oops sorry i just saw this today. But i don't think X-chat2 works for me. I've got the details into the port list under the server "irc2.othersideirc.net.". Is that the right one?

I think i have the right server, as it doesn't say its an unknown host, it actually atttempts to connect. But after a while connecting, it stops and says the connection has timed out. It does the same for the AA channel. This is why i believe its the fault of my university wirless network. As it says that P2P applications and other applications have been blocked.

Also time zones really do hamper things, as i am five hours ahead of you guys.

I see your new move is to mass email all of the members about their lack of activity.

"Hi, it's mass email time.

darylcrowe, we haven't seen you around much at all recently, and we were
wondering why you do not post or stop by and what have you. You can reply to
this email, and I would appreciate it if you did so we can work on fixing
whatever you may feel is wrong with our community.

Thank you for your time, and be sure to visit us occasionally :)

Phelddagrif"

I think this is good, as it could jar people's memory that they are actualy members of here.  I guess though you just posted it to every member here didn't you?
