The Reflection
« on: July 22, 2017, 08:50:37 PM »

This is the long awaited collaboration project between Studio DEEN and Stan Lee's company, Pow! Entertainment.  The original concept is Stan Lee's.

There has been lots of speculation about how this series would turn out.  Would it look like an anime? Or would it look western?  Or would it be something in-between?

Well, the opening scene started in Japan and looked fairly typical by anime standards (if a bit low budget).  Then it switched to New York and... oh my.  It was storyboarded much like a Marvel comic book, and it did look like one. Too much, IMHO. The superheros were totally flat and looked like paper cutouts being pushed around.  The soundtrack was okay, but the NY animation felt like it was made on a budget of $65.19 using Macromedia Flash.

The story was about... a lot of American flags waving around, a bunch of not-X-Men fighting for no discernable reason, and "Sky Show! Sky Show!"   I've already forgotten it.
