Hajimete no Gal

Well at least they tried to make the most out of needing to be censored.

This didn't make me laugh but the gal was cute so I'll keep it for now.

Only one person posted here? I are disappointed.

I came into this show thinking that I'm gonna lose some IQ points. In some ways, it's that kind of show. Yet, I kinda enjoyed the show. In fact, quite a lot. And I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the dorky humor. Maybe it's the blatant "I want sex" premise. Maybe it's the guy's surprisingly good monologue.

And then it dawned upon me: this show reminds me of B Gata H Kei, one of the best comedies of all time. Whether this show's as good as that, I won't say. I'm skeptical of that. But I'm kinda intrigued.

Even since the Black Star Trio appeared, (the GTO, not MSG Gundam), gyarus are portrait as 3 Bs. Bitchy, boobies, and brainless. Gyarus are rarely found in anime or manga, except for secondary characters. Galko chan did shows that gyarus can be nice too. I was hopping some of the stereo type can be use as comedy elements or show us another side of gyarus.

It's not B-Geta H-Kai, but it sexy funny to make me curious what's on the gyaru's mind.

Hint. There is a hidden yandre. Wanna guess.
Answer
Spoiler for Hiden:
It's the class rep. It seems we need a yandere in rom-com.

This is utterly stupid.  I mean, there is literally no reason for these two to get together, so why in God's name should I give a damn about their romantic escapades?  At least in B-Gata H-Kei we knew what Yamada's deal was, and we also knew it was stupid, but it was the plot.  This is a relationship began by a misunderstanding with the girl just going along with it and being held together by plot convenience.

On the other hand, I am entertained.

Omg that brown girl was an amalgam of Alice and Nikumi. I lover her.

Other than that, this episode just felt like a protracted version of the lesser chapters of Grand Blue(minus the fantastic art and amazing facial expressions. Also no Chisa). Uninspired. While I am a sucker for the American Pie, solidarity of virgins shenanigans in anime, I would sooner simply reread Grand Blue.
In short, I'm pushing Grand Blue. Everyone should go read it.

Not that the animation has been good since the start, but woof the three episode buffer zone rears its ugly head.

Anyhoot, there's nothing unique here.  Not-Nikumi forms a lesbian love triangle with the main couple, even though she's unrequited at the moment, and friend-zoned, and fails at raping virgins.  Basically she's a non factor in a love triangle so there isn't actually one at all.  However, a threesome would make for some good porn.

Maybe it's just me, but Yakana seems kind of stupid.  I thought her motivation for going with Junichi was just some whimsical nonsense or what is expected of her being a "gal" with the whole "gal image" (wherein his friends were ironically right rather than being actually right), with the inevitable thang being that they grow to actually like each other over time.  Only took an actual two episodes, so **** that noise, but this episode really revealed that she just ain't too bright.  She's kind, she's fun loving, but preeeeeeetty much not thinking upstairs.  Maybe she's more perceptive than I think and is just acting stupid because, again "gal", but I don't think after catching my friend mounting my boyfriend twice in very suggestive ways that I'd buy she was just introducing herself or testing his loyalty.  Maybe once, especially if she's prone to behaving that way, but not twice.  In his house.  With a torn shirt.  How does THAT fit?  Damn kind of her to take her shoes off once entering from the side door, tho (and I did actually hear the "pin pon" door chime and just assumed it was either a sound error or some kind of background noise for the audience like the birds and their 'aho!' thing or like a musical cue at a gag when they didn't react to it).

Bleh, I just like the show if it just keep things funny. Don't need the whole love triangle thing; that's just unnecessary.

Junichi's choice of T-shirt design needs a little help, though.

Okay, I can put up with the "no two harem girls ever kill each other" for regular anime because they're just so Japanese and therefore so non confrontational, but Yame is a gal, she should cut some bitches.  Also, the childhood friend a slut.

I feel like a criminal for mildly enjoying this heavily clichéd, objectively shitty show. I'm really sorry.

I wish Yame got more air time.

Ever since GTO's Black Tri-stars (yes, it's not Gundam), gyarus are usually 3 Bs. Busty, bitching, and brainless. It seems most gyarus are stereo type and side lined to secondary support characters. Most love interest are usually one of the deres. Galko-chan broke one of the Bs. She's not bitchy, but still brainless and busty. I was hoping that more interesting stuff happens to gyarus. All I got was more creative way of censering.

Oh well, last season was man beating up girls to join their harem. This season are looses who get to form a harem.

I didn't think Junichi was capable of being an imbecile and then a hero in a single episode.

Boy, was I wrong.

Final:

Most predictable ending ever.

I actually liked this show at first. It was even clever in the beginning: the dialogue, the bromance, everything. And then it went south. Like really down the bottomless pit, and same goes to the animation. It just got shitty.

It's a 4/10. What a shame; it was good while it lasted (for an episode or two).
