Alice & Zoroku

Hmm, I think the first episode was interesting. The CGI car stuff was distracting but besides that, I think the show built itself with its world setting in a way that I found pretty curious.

Surprisingly good soundtrack so far.

From the character cast, they introduced Sana, Zouroku, Hinagiri twins, etc. There's a feel of mystery in the air as well especially with Sana. I'm curious to know about her more. Between Zouroku and Sana, I like their character chemistry so far. In general, I think the first episode (44+ minutes) set up the story well. I'm interested to see more.

Confusing, heavily trope reliant, forced, and soulless. Plus the animation looks like crap and dips into even worse CGI. Overall, f!cking terrible.

Who the hell made this? Was this the winner of a contest for highschoolers?

I'd almost think J.C. Staff was using a low animation style on purpose to contrast with the glorious beauty of the flower shop at the end, if not for the jarringly bad car chase CG.

Something weird is going on with the granddaughter (Sanae).  According to Sana - who had read Zoroku's mind - she has been "at a training camp with her high school club since yesterday" (13:30).  But her room looks like nobody has been living there for a while.

I care not for the seemingly all-too-common plotlines which are hinted by Main Girl's origin. I'll just be here for the budding dynamic between Sana and Zoroku.  I fear all this supernatural and government conspiracy bullshit will obscure a far lesser trodden story.

Hoooooooly crap that's some bad animation.  However, I'll let the weird dynamic of the two main characters and the seriousness that the story wants to treat her and the agency that's after her, run with this mother or a few episodes and see what happens.

But goddamn that was some really bad animation.

MYYYY EYEEES... but i liked it otherwise. Hope my eye bleeding won't hinder my enjoyment of the show too much. Because it was bleeding pretty badly. Had to get some tissues.

Also had a few good laughs over the horrible cgi car:D AND i think the low point in here was during the chase when Zoroku asks Sana to leave the car. Even though he stops the car (around 17:00) the background was still moving:3

Man I really wanted to make some kind-of point regarding character design....there seems to be, at the least, three differing schools of charcter design. Whether it be the Hidamari Loli's, the Government Agent's, or the "Kaiji" Adults...each faction seems to have been represented by a certain character design.
--some bullshit I wanted to say about episode 1

I still hate the needless Alice in Wonderland references(Wonderland, Sana=Alice, The Twins=Thing 1 and Thing 2) it's all such affectatious nonsense. So all this nonsense not only doesnt establish context it just begs needless intrigue(yes I did give the first episode some slack seeing how some of the terminology may have been derived by actual children).
--more bulshit I thought regarding ep 1

what happened this episode? I don't know.
Do I like this series? I mean, I wanted to watch an innocent show wherein a girl, having suffered a dark past, came into her own...and I am getting that. I enjoyed the episode. IDK.

The distinction between worry and anger, as experienced by a parental agent, is quite adorable

So this episode neither advanced the dynamic between Zoroku and Alice but also didnt confront the overarching supernatural narrative...but I loved it.

I still think something is going on with Sanae. In ep 1 her bedroom was dusty and full of stacked boxes as if she had not occupied it in a long time. Yet in ep 2 she suddenly returned from her HS 'field trip' (which Sana had gleaned from reading Zoroku's mind).

We know that Sana can create living things out of thin air, for example when she created the luscious garden in the research lab (it included birds IIRC). After she escaped the lab she offered to grant Zoroku any wish that he might want, but he refused her offer.

What if Sana - after pigging out at the restaurant to max out her mana - decided to grant Zoroku one wish anyway?

They really drew attention to Sana bringing those pigs to life. Minnie C. can bring back her hubby, but only as a partial apparition.

My theory about Sanae took a hit when Zoroku's two helpers asked him about her, but it still might work if they simply have not seen her at the shop for a while and are unaware of the real situation.

When we first saw her at the train station she was standing there alone and no train was seen.

So you think they're pulling a Magnitude 8.0 on us?  Didn't everybody react to Sanae's excited shouts when they took Sana away?

I'll watch it, but I think the theory is already dead.  I think someone addresses Sanae directly once.

She's alive and real (or at least as real as the pigs).  Sana could have created a doppleganger when she scanned Zoroku's mind.

Uh, yeah, but I'd think everybody would be reacting weird to a suddenly revived daughter.  Unless she did something to **** with their minds, too, but now we're approaching "convenient" territory.

Well, we wrapped up that first arc by having an overpowered good guy save the day, the enemy organization get taken down by the fuzz, and Sana gets to go home to a loving family.

My only question in this is what the **** does Zoroku have to do with anything?  Aside from be the stand-in parental figure to a walking WMD, he has done ****-all for Sana or anybody else.  I suppose it is appropriate that he, being just an average Joe flower shop owner, wouldn't pull a Bruce Willis and Die Hard Miss Tachibana's shit, but if he's not that important, why is he sent into the situation in the first place and what can he honestly do for Sana with all these mega powers that be running amok?
