That one got me good.

That said, Ghibli hasn't quit, they're just defaulting to that thing they do every 5 years where they decide originals aren't worth it and keep adapting old english novels from my mother's childhood for 5 years or so.

Still, minus the bit about Trigger, Mappa, and Wit, a lot fo this stuff is probably much more true from 2007-2011. I think some time after maybe 2010 there was a period wherein really small studios that initially did just contribution work and such started to pilot their own mostly in-house production (Lerche, TROYCA, Sanzingen, the Berserk one, the Sidonia one, and who knows how many others). Not to mention the fact that White Fox, Brains Base, Pierrot, Toei, DEEN, etc. exist and dont get mentions here. Of these big unmentioned studios, only the fact that White Fox isnt mentioned surprises me, since western fans love their stuff.

Good old Gigguk still churning out the good stuff.

Personally I've have loved to see Ghibli/Miyazaki going super saiyan on some hapless studios.
