I would have bought the game, but most of my funds (allowance) go to anime DVDs, so alas. >_>

Then at least watch a "Let's Play" of the whole game.

Normally I don't support such things because to franchises like Ace Attorney with such a small Western fanbase, sales are so important. If we have one flop, we will probably never get translations for sequels. That's what happened to Ace Attorney Investigations 2...but seriously, I really thought Dual Destinies was a fabulous game and I don't want any fan to miss out. It's completely worth the $30 and I urge you to support it. Maybe watching the whole game will help change your mind - I bought the English version after already buying the Japanese version because it's really well made.

As much as it pains me that there's no retail release of the game in English, I'm definitely looking into getting Dual Destinies once I finish Virtue's Last Reward which has been blowing me away for the past few days.

Dual Destinies will be tame after finishing VLR. VLR is just stunning.

If you truly must own a box, you can always import the game from Japan. :)

I'm actually planning on refraining myself from playing Ace Attorney for a few months until my next uni break, because at this rate VLR is actually going to ruin Dual Destinies for me.

You're right, VLR will ruin any plot-based games you play after it. But the problem is, the next Ace Attorney game is already in the works. I don't think waiting too long to play Dual Destinies is a good idea either.

あああ〜 what a dilemma.

...What's the step I need to take to start actually learning Japanese? >_>

Memorize the Hiragana and the Katakana and be able to recall or recognise all characters as fast as you recognise English letters. Then we talk.

But seriously, the news of Ace Attorney Investigations 2 not being translated into English was the tipping factor of what made me start learning Japanese.

I was not joking. So many people start trying to tackle grammar before they even have the kana fluent. They usually give up within a few weeks simply because they're handicapped so much by the lacklustre reading speed.

I've learned Katakana and Hiragana before. I just need to refresh my memory. >_>

That's definitely an advantage, but make sure you're actually fluent. As in you can read something like "わたしのなまえは「ImperialX」です!アニメはだいすき!" aloud from just looking at the kana, giving your brain no time to think. I truly believe one needs to be at least that fast in recognising kana before one really start learning other parts of Japanese, be it Kanji or Grammar. Having a good grip on the kana will really make learning that much faster.

Yeah, I'll start taking more time on that. It still takes me a minute to read through the Hiragana. Katakana... can't even read.

Going to bump this thread a bit. The new Ace Attorney game has been announced for the 3DS, and it's probably something we all didn't expect.

Takumi Shu is heading this project, just putting it out there.
