Most badly done villains give you the "I'm evil face, really!" face.  JoJo's Bizarre Adventure takes it to its logical conclusion: "Hello, I'm the villain, let me kick your dog!"

So over the top, so overwrought, so freaking brilliant.  This is like the perfect "good Bad" series.  I can see why it has such a following.

And now I'm left wondering why I've never bothered to read the manga. It's exactly the kind of over-the-top action series I can see myself raving about for weeks.

I wouldn't even say it's "so bad it's good." It has a distinctly juvenile, campy style and revels in it. Incredibly silly and ridiculous, yes, but it's not pretending to be anything different. It's fun trash, as they say.

Wow, that was so ridiculous, yet awesome!  My brothers have read bits of the manga, and it seems they blasted through several volumes there, so I expect this to be paced very quickly.

The theme that played during the fight where Jojo finally beat the shit out of Dio......did my ear play tricks on me or was that lifted directly from Dune?

Well the project is being funded by WB and they managed to have a song from Yes as the ED, so I wouldn't put it past them.

Episode 1

Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda! Muda!  I have been waiting for another JoJo anime for awhile and I am not disappointed thus far.  Seeing how Dio gained Za Warudo! while eternally struggling with Jonathan makes me quite happy.  The artstyle and visuals for this series has always been flamboyant and full of flair.  They have certainly captured that aspect thus far and I love it.

Mindless fun can actually be good if done right and it looks like that is how it will go.  Usually, I absolutely hate Shonen fare since they are god awful garbage.  (Naruto and Bleach being the prime examples of how to do everything wrong and possibly worse then DBZ.)  But, somehow JoJo's Bizarre Adventure transcends that despite being what it is.

I just realized that rewatching Arakawa Under the Bridge is going to be really problematic.  I'm going to see Sister as Dio, most of the time, now.  So when Stella goes Fist of the North Star/JoJo mode, it's going to be really awkward.

I must tip my hat to whoever was in charge of the visuals for this anime.  It's obviously low budget but it's presented in a way that's extremely effective.

I recommend Mobile Suit, RX-0 and Unicorn from the Unicorn OST.

Now, THAT is an OP.  And the episode was pretty interesting for the badassery and the GAR moments.  I liked that they were playing rugby and they got that right.
