Health and Physical Education for 30-year Olds

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce that I no longer believe in Him.

This is what happens when TWGOK meets The 40 30-Year-Old Virgin and converts into a sex comedy. No wait, I think that this is a continuation of TWGOK, and Keima finally realizes that he's a loser who can't score with chicks at all, and RL girls > 2D girls because the former have pu**ies. Yeah, it all makes sense now...

Sure, the show can be so wrong on so many levels - like how God's arse suddenly became a black hole and starts to swallow everything in Imagawa's room - but as a lulzy comedy show, it can be entertaining to watch. It's not as educational as I thought it would be presented, and the characters are likable. Plus, Shimono Hiro's versatility is used to great effect by having a double role.

Yeah, I think I'll be sticking to this show. This should be interesting.

It's short and funny. I definitely have the time to watch this. I thought it be like a guide on how to get women, but this format makes it entertaining to watch.

Only a God would offer his younger brother dressed as a girl to a man so that he could use him to lose his virginity (though half-jokingly, and possibly with simply the intent to prove a point). The protagonist thankfully avoided falling for the trap, though he was surprised to learn of his true gender. Quite funny, especially the reference to the AT fields from Evangelion. Yes, I laughed that they made a reference to Evangelion in a show like this.

Let me rephrase myself: This is what happens when TWGOK meets The 40 30-Year-Old Virgin and Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and converts into a sex comedy. And it put a smile on my face when Natsu's AK field was explained. For a second, I thought it was parodying NGE's AT field... maybe it was.

You know what, God's shota brother can do whatever he wants, even if he enjoys being a trap, because he's adorable. Same goes to the Imagawa and God; the two are amusing to watch, partially because of how the seiyuu make them funny to listen to.

But unlike the last two episodes, the overload of censors here really killed the fun. I could only make out half of the kissing tutorial. Damn.

Honest to God, it didn't occur to me that the show is very male-centric i.e. it has been mostly catering to the male viewers. That's why I prefer the show to explore more on the female side (plus, it would be more enlightening to me). Of course, the content of this show (or just about any sex guidebooks) should be taken with a pinch of salt because they're all based on general observation and the author's opinions, not on absolute facts.

It's quite funny, and I like how in the ED the two get older as the series progresses. I wonder though why the episodes are 12 minutes long. Is it that there just isn't that much material to cover?

I found this episode funny, notably the fact that they both were told the advice about the 10 second rule, causing them to avert their gazes from each other at the same time every 10 seconds. In terms of actual tips to the viewer, some were:
. Walk in step with the person you're with, not out in front.
. Always Walk on the car side of the road.
. If the person you're with is falling over or has fallen over, catch them or help them up.
. Look into the other person's eye's as much as you can, but break it every so often so not to make it too prolonged.
. (This wasn't explicitly said) Don't be so Nervous.

This is all quite general stuff, but most of it is true. The amount of time you should gaze into the other person's eye's is dependent on the people and situation, and I'm not sure about whether people care about being nearest the road, but the rest of them make sense.

I laughed at the troll faces used in this episode. Then again, I couldn't think of a more apt place to use it.

Talk about your sledgehammer jokes.  Not that it wasn't funny, but goddamn.

Personal beef:  do the Gods really have to have some sort of earth-human equatable background with each other?  How retarded.  Their goals are the same and yet Predictable Stupidity says that the conflict between the two Gods will mean more than the conflict between the two humans towards reaching it.  That's just a really bad idea for drawing out the stupid.
I'm just like you, only smarterô.

Nope, I don't like this episode.

For one, I think it's pretty redundant to keep explaining the AK field by now. If it's for viewers who began watching this show from episode 6, then obviously I have to question those people's intention of starting to watch only from the halfway mark. It's repetitive, so stop it already. Another thing is how ludicrous things got (AK field? Fine. Robo-Andou? Whatever. Nipple whips? I'm sorry, what.) Things would've been better and more believable if they just keep things bolted down to earth.

This one had the most tips out of the current episodes, like being neat instead of fashionable etc. It was done in a bit of a info dump way, as in he was just reading it out as he typed it into is godputer, but it was made funny by the retarded thing that he was putting in there. As for the second confession: I agree with AC, they should have kept it real and left out all that AT field bullshit. Still enjoyable though.

I'm quite ambivalent about this episode.

I don't like how the gods are trying to usurp the human lead characters Imagawa and Andou for the spotlight. The focus should be on the human protagonists eventually with the gods assisting them from the back but judging from how the show puts it, it's more about the gods and their shenanigans instead. This show is after all a tutorial for 30-year olds so the main concern should be about how the human protagonists relate to the viewers about their love life. Plus, the show also often gets distracted by its own frills: what's up with the superintendent and his virginity record? It's neither funny nor does it add anything to the show.

However, I like how the characters remain likable and not take itself too seriously since it's a comedy. The shota and nekked gags work to some extent - they don't try so hard to ram it down my throat - and the part where Imagawa spotted the vibrator and began having wet imaginations made me laugh. It also made me re-imagine that Imagawa is TWGOK's Katsuragi 15 years from now.

Maybe the most "educational" episode yet. Quite a decent one, except for one thing:

Spoiler for Hiden:

I actually felt embarrassed at this. Seriously.

This episode would've been a lot better if it had focused on the Andou-Momoko issue. It's only because it's a down-to-earth topic that 30-year old virgins will encounter in one way or another when they get into a relationship i.e. the concept of sacrifice. I'm ambivalent as to which party is right in this debate: Andou has every right to be outraged at the blow-up doll and her argument is sound too, but I can also understand Imagawa's plight because, like he said, Momoko is Momoko and Andou is Andou.

It's like my girlfriend wanting me to throw out my entire porn stash, which I then can imagine myself saying that porn is porn and the girls inside them aren't my girlfriend at the end of the day. In this debate, the best (and most difficult to achieve) answer is compromise but yeah, if only the solution is that easy to do.

And it's no coincidence that the gods/goddesses are out cold this time round; it's a red herring concerning how it's about time the two 30-year old couple should start solving problems by themselves. It's a step up towards improvement, so good for them.

It can be so gross yet funny at the same time. Sometimes though it's just too gross. This show permanently lives by that line, and so it crosses it quite often.

Well, the solution to that problem is to hide your porn better... Create an elaborate set-up like Light did for his Death Note, but for your porn stash instead. Problem solved. There are no weaknesses to this plan at all... Unless you get caught... And then there's living with the outright lie you told your girlfriend... There's the betrayal of trust... Apart from those tiny things, a fail-proof plan.

Well, that was sweet.

My thoughts on 30-sai:

It's a likable show. It knows what it wants to be: a light-hearted comedy that teaches a thing or two the steps to getting laid. It's lulzy for most parts but what I like about 30-sai is how it doesn't take itself seriously to the point that the drama overshadows the show's purpose. All the characters are likable too: Imagawa is likable (which I would thank Shimono Hiro for providing seiyuu work that's far better than TWOGK IMHO), his gods are wonderful, and heck, I'm not even disturbed by the occasionally nekked shota Macaron and his cross-dressing ways. That, and how the episodes are perfectly timed; had it been the conventional +20 minutes length, it would've been tiresome to watch.

It's a 5/10. It's not that bad, but anything but special. Plus the show suffered from that Superintendent and his virginity road trip, which is something I just don't understand.

Finally got round to seeing it. It was a surprisingly bitter-sweet ending, with the god's exiting without a proper goodbye. I thought that was quite sad, but as AC said, it was still quite a sweet affair, especially after the ending credits.

I'd give this show a 5 also, because although it was amusing and all, I feel rather indifferent about it. There were some particularly gross bits as well that I wish I hadn't seen, but it's mainly the fact that I didn't really care much about it.

I hope the start of the summer season goes well.
