Anime Review page, broken?
« on: October 21, 2010, 11:38:59 AM »
Hey, when i try to acces the anime review page: http://www.nihonreview.com/anime/

I get this error message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /***/***/public_html/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1366

Is this just a maintenance thing? Or is it just me?
Anyways I just wanted to give you guys the heads up about it ^^

Getting the same thing.  Sounds like a host issue.
I'm just like you, only smarter™.

Well, this is weird.  I checked it this morning on my phone's browser, and I got the same thing you guys got.  However, when I checked it just now on Firefox, I had no problems.

Anyway, I'm just checking the page across different browsers to see that it isn't browser related.  If it's an intermittent problem, it could be really troublesome.  If anyone else is experiencing this problem, please report it in this thread.

Edit:  Oh yeah, and since this thread is site related, I'm moving it.

Ok, now it's even happening in Firefox.  And I think I've seen enough to determine it's happening in all browsers, and is therefore something wrong with the site.  I'll try a few things.  Hopefully it'll be a simple fix, but the fact that it's cropped up so suddenly makes me think that it won't be.

Ok, it's actually happening on all the review database pages (ie, Anime, Live Action, Manga, Games, etc).  As far as I can tell, these pages are consuming more memory than has been allocated by php.ini.  That's fine.  What makes absolutely no sense to me, though, is, why now?  What's changed since yesterday?

Anyway, I increased the amount of allocated memory, and I think it works now, but if this is something that displeases our host, then I'll instantly change it back.  We intend on changing themes in the near future, and if this is caused by an inefficiency with how our current theme is written, then maybe this will be fixed with a new theme, and we can go back to using a smaller amount of memory for php (thus lessening the chances of us earning the ire of our hosts).

Aye, It's fixed again. ^^

If you haven't changed anything. then the only conclusion would be that the host changed something that messed things up.
