It sucks.

Okay, it's mediocre. Which in my book, sucks. Nothing's worse than a mediocre anime.

Don't be fooled by unique character designs, pretty covers and flashy OP. It doesn't look all that great once you see it animated. ESPECIALLY how the fugly paper characters move.

Although it's visuals are no way near worse than its boring characters. I actually expected a lot from the white haired girl, it's been a while since I last had a pleasure of watching a fascinating female lead (i.e. Senjougahara). O well another disappointment.

The plot seems bit more complicated than your average story, with some politics and what have you, but not interesting enough.

If anyone is willing to spend 50 mintues on each episode of this quality entertainment ever month, feel free to try.

Harsh.

I like it, in all honesty.  I mean, it still has 11 episodes to do something, but I liked the characters, and the fact that it's completely unabashed about being a talk-a-thon.  It not only completely ignores the "show don't tell" mentality but takes it to such an extreme that it's quite remarkable.  Nothing is left to the imagination.  Every single concept that even so much as crosses the characters' minds are explained in gory detail.  It's like all the characters have verbal diarrhea.

I want to see where this is going before I make any judgement call on it, and even though I've got a fair idea what's coming, I'm intrigued.

It's a Nishio Ishin work. Everyone should have seen the talk-a-thon coming. The show is interesting, and it tries to do something new. I'm also reserving judgment on this until I see more.

Episode 2:
I nearly stopped when the ninja that talked backwards started going, but he got killed pretty quickly, so I thought it was OK.

Then I stopped for reals when they were walking through the desert and they (or just Togame really) was talking about how the fella should have "personality" like the ninja from the first ep. Ugh. I had just enough strength to kill the episode before I turned comatose. Sad

The chatty bits were cute in Bakemonogatari because you didn't know what direction the conversation or story was going. But Katanagatari explains the plot in such excruciating detail that it sucks all the fun out of watching it.

Oh yeah, slight mispelling: "Katanagari" -> "Katanagatari" right?

Bleh it doesn't deserve correct spelling. And you've outlined one of my biggest prob with first episode. Too much plot talking, but with generic and boring presentation, as opposed to Bakemonogatari's wonderfully executed dialogue and accompanying slideshow.

Ep 4:

Well, it's not an Endless Eight-level troll....but it's pretty darn close IMHO.  Shocked

Well, it wasn't really a troll, but it was certainly unexpected.  Ok, not showing the Sabi fight was a troll, but does that really matter?  The fight we did see was a million times better, because it was completely unexpected.  There's already speculation that
Spoiler (hover to show)
I'll believe it when I see it.  If there's anything to take from this episode, it's to expect the unexpected.
