Rosario + Vampire Capu2
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:03:32 AM »
Episode 1

It starts off in expected fashion; well, it's a no-brainer anyway. Everything goes back to normal since that royal rumble towards the end of the first season, except for a few changes, which I doubt will affect anything as the series progresses. Plus, a new character has arrived, and my opinion is this: A forgettable and irritating side character i.e. no different from Kururu, Yukari or Mizore. In conclusion, I say that this will be a mediocre anime just like the first season, but for all the pantyshots and harem generics, I'll stay on and watch as this season's guilty pleasure. And, hehe, censorship rears its ugly head again.

And apparently, the 'Discotheque' opening sequence (put at the end of the episode for this time) made me really wet

with perspiration.

If people are stupid enough to watch the censored version, then they deserve what they get.

The show itself is more of the same, but the OP sequence is a miracle.  It's seriously the greatest OP sequence of all time... of the season. *Cough*

The OP animation sequence is really crisp and all, but I must be (just about anyhow) the only person on the internets who didn't like the song that accompanies it.  :(

Episode 2

Sigh, so Kokoa is the modern-day bloodsucking version of Shampoo. Nothing extraordinary happens, except for Kokoa's bursts of rage brings back memories of Ranma 1/2 inadvertently. Wow, and the ending is so... anti-climatic.

Episode 3

- I'm amazed by how Tsukune takes a full blow from a gigantic spiked club and escapes with only a few drops of blood. It's amazing, I'd say.
- Kurumu's mom is the best. It's MILF, all in bold capital letters.
- Kurumu's assertive approach is glorious. Best line she's ever said in both seasons.
- Best position Tsukune has ever gotten himself into, thanks to Moka. I hate him so much.

You have no idea how hard I'm RRAAAGGEing at the fact that all broadcasts of this show are now censored.

I dunno what it is about this show, it's still the same plotless, mindless crap, but I'm enjoying this a lot more than last season.  Kurumu = <3 !

Episode 4

- The main character for this episode is my least favorite character, Yukari. Sigh.
- I'm amazed that a conjurer like Yukari can do all kinds of magic, but not a quick boob job. Something's not right.
- Moka's transformation and bout are being overshadowed by Yukari's plight. I sniggered at the narrator's fading routine remark.
- What is the purpose behind Kokoa's presence again?

- My final words: No matter how voluptuous Yukari can be, nothing can beat Kurumu's boobs. It can even move on their own and do tricks!

Kokoa's appearance lead to the funniest joke in this episode: the way the girls fight.

As for the rest of the episode, yeah, boring episode because Yukari is a boring character.  And the physical scene made me RAGE!  Bats and bears everywhere.  What's the point of a fanservice anime if you're going to censor the fanservice?

Episode 5

Theme of the Week: Curry!

- I had no idea that an Indian youkai exists. The youkai influence is breaking boundaries!
- Everyone has contracted The Simpsons Fever. *gasp*
- Would somebody go incinerate that irritating mousebat who's covering the moneyshots? How wonderful, he has a new accomplice to assist him >.>
- Curry dishes make bad projectiles. The Brainiac crew must be livid at the discovery by someone else.
- What the hell? I'm still trying to understand this.
- This one too. gg, Moka. This is an instance of how trying to act cool can hit you back right on the face.

Kokoa's appearance lead to the funniest joke in this episode: the way the girls fight.
It's sad to see that Kokoa has been nothing more than a side character and not involved in something funny (usually involving the main cast). It's not that I expect anything more than that from her from the beginning, but I wish she's more than she seems to be.

Episode 6

This is the best episode yet, and I mean it.

- Oh yes, a hot spring... something kinky is bound to happen, since they go hand-in-hand.
- This is just amazing. Either Moka is ingenious or the R+V crew shot themselves in the foot. I lol'ed eventually. Plus, to think that hot spring water contains sulfur, meaning it's not pure water in the first place.
- Wow, Kokoa finally played a big role in this episode.
- The chase scene was hilarious, but goddammit, that was so close. Damn you, mousebat!
- Moka successfully scares me in this episode... she's fierce all of a sudden. Coolness +2 points!

Really, you liked this episode?  I couldn't stand it.  Not just because of the inane, pointless antagonists and bland humour (what happened to the edginess that this season had in the first three eps?), but because the characters acted like self-centred jerks.  Well, I guess that's not totally new (the mild antagonism between the girls is one of the reasons this is "entertaining", in the purest sense of the word), but the extent in this ep really irked me.

I don't see any edginess between the first three episodes and this one. All of them are self-centered from the first place and I honestly want them to stay like that; otherwise, it'll be boring. Plus, the hot spring cliche kinda worked in this case and let's face it: all the villains in season one and this are pathetic. Furthermore, Kokoa had more airtime than before, which was great.

I think that this episode nicked episode 3 by a few inches.

Episode 7

Well, that was kinda fun.

- Tsukune has such a doting mother. I feel sorry for her ordeal.
- BEST QUOTE BY MOKA EVER!
- I have to give it to Moka in this episode. She scored points with Tsukune's mother, moved in for the kill and summoned the Inner Moka to clean up the mess. Great job.
- -1 to Yukari for not adding anything to the fun.
- +4 to Kurumu for her cries in the bedroom scene... and doing it four times. That was brilliant.

Episode 8

Urgh, this episode focuses on a jaded chick, Ruby. Yukari was boring but man, is Ruby a wet blanket.

- Here's a thought for Ruby: If you want to get Tsukune's attraction, why don't you wear a short skirt like the rest? Don't ruin the fun for everyone.
- Best fight ever.
- Gasp, Lelouch!?
- +4 for Nekonome-sensei for teh sexy pubescent poses and ripping the swimsuit using only her "kitties".
- Nekonome-sensei as Catwoman? Wow, scratch me silly and purr me sideways, I'm so on!
- What's with the chapters? Most of them aren't even worth showing.
- It's so sad to see Kokoa being a filler character again.

Meh, an episode as boring as one featuring Yukari.

Episode 9

- I dreaded over the skiing theme. Skiing = cold weather = thick clothing = less fanservice.
- I think it's time Kokoa knows where the party's at, everytime.
- +1 to Mizore's fear factor.
- One more special attribute found on Kurumu's breasts - they make great punching bags.
- +2 to Mizore's mother's hot/horny factor.
- It's a relief that the yeti's not what it seems to be. For a moment, I was squeaming at the idea of Mizore's mother who should've slept with the yeti before *_*

Episode 10:

- JE T'AIME!!!!!!!!
^I actually struggled a bit to understand what that meant at first, when I realized it was "Je t'aime" I facepalmed, hard.
- Concert scene, lyrics, atmosphere put together made me lol really hard.
- Fact: Kurumu's breasts can NOT be used to support volleyballs. c_c;

Too little fanservice this episode, a bit disappointed.

- Fact: Kurumu's breasts can NOT be used to support volleyballs. c_c;
*I actually arrive at a different conclusion.

Episode 10

Keyword of the Day = Je t'aime~

- The bishounen gag seems a little different from the gags in the previous episodes. Hmm...
- Oh, silly Tsukune trying to pole vault in vain ^^
- *Mythbusters finding: Kurumu's breast measurements = a volleyball. Yep, one breast : one ball.
- Okay, strangely I envy, hate and grateful to Ijuuin. Here's why:
- Envy: He seduces (almost) every chick in the school, even the kitty teacher. If I were him, after getting them in my control, it's only natural to hump them (one-on-one or altogether is another issue). Also, perhaps the first dude ventured into the Forbidden Territory.
- Hate: He made Kurumu flashed her breasts! What the $#^%*~!?
- Gratitude: He made the girls wear The Fetish Costume Deluxe Package. Dominatrix included too, in a special red color edition.
- I want to laugh at the singing but I can't. I can't understand the lyrics!
- I don't get it. Why is it easier to hypnotize Kokoa than Moka?
- Despite a lot of talking points, Akira's right: Too little fanservice. It's disappointing.

I tried to ask this question on AnimeSuki, but the only answer I got was that it's all an excuse for fanservice.  Which is true...

Quote
Ep 10

Question: Was it supposed to be that obvious that the transfer student was Ko-chan? Because the seiyuu gave it away after just one line. It was supposed to be the type of joke that the characters knew nothing about but the audience was in on, right?

Also, where did Ko-chan suddenly get all those gnarly powers of mind-control through charm and good looks? Since it was kinda implied that he only got them recently somehow. Or is this one of those "forget logic" moments?

For the first question, I didn't bother to actually check the seiyuu of Iuujin. That, and I was too caught up with the hilarity to even notice it... yes, I didn't notice it honestly.

Secondly, rather than questioning Ko-chan's powers, his intentions for using his powers in this particular situation perplexes me. Why does he use it to help Kokoa and not naturally for himself? Some men would dump their girlfriends just to gain that kind of power.

Also, why did he flounder when Kokoa found him during that fanciful concert? Even if he was caught trying to score with the girls, he can try explain that he's doing it for her after all.

Just my random thoughts.

Not that the answer to any of those questions actually matters...

Episode 11, aka the OH NOES PLOT EPISODE

Once again, not enough fanservice... this is why I absolutely hate fanservice-y anime. They don't do a good enough job on the fanservice. Maybe this is why Gonzo is going to produce a straight-up ero anime... with their level of storytelling and their level of fanservice, they can't satisfy any demographic. I'm just going to go find some Moka doujin... -_-

You think so? I beg to differ.

Episode 11

Yes, it has less fanservice than some of the previous episodes but it has some golden moments, with the exposing-true-nature and all.

- Oh my god, nosebleed. I love you, Kurumu.
- *gasp* Snow White!?
- Breathless, rising body temperature... oh my f**king god, Kurumu's in heat! MORE NOSEBLEED! This bit really turned me on; even more than some hentai titles.
- BEST LINE BY MIZORE.
- Oh yeah, "COSMIC LOVE" by Nana Mizuki brings back memories...
- The two Mokas meet each other at last. Well this is new.
- Nasty, nasty girl >:3

Ep 12

For someone who's supposed to be so cool and tough, why has Inner Moka turned out to be so boring?  I actually want Tsukune to succeed on his quest since, even though I didn't think it possible, Inner Moka is actually even more bland than Moka.

Episode 12

- First of all, I know what this episode is trying to do, and that is to see that Inner Moka can never replace Akashiya Moka, and the latter is sorely missed. The problem is, I don't see why Inner Moka has such a dry character to make everyone, including the viewers, to miss Akashiya. SK is right.
- I had no idea Akashiya gets a bust increase during the transformations.
- That is so... awkward. It's like Angelina Jolie doing pop music.
- Why is Inner Moka trying to act like Akashiya? I don't get it.
- Dialogue:

Tsukune: Moka-san~
Moka: Tsukune.
Tsukune: Moka-san~
Moka: Tsukune.
.
.
.
AC: *facepalm*

- Well, at least their mothers came to the rescue. Mmm... hawt mothers.

This episode is very boring, honestly. Perhaps it's the serious tone this episode, or just than there are less boobs this time.

I don't get it either.  Inner Moka has always been presented as this wise and strong character while she's been inside regular Moka, yet, now that she's spent an episode on the outside, she just resembles a more bland version of regular Moka, but without the saccharine cuteness.  There's no drama (not that there ever has been) to putting Inner Moka away again, because they've done nothing to give her a reasonable case that her place is on the outside and not inside regular Moka again.  At least just give her some personality or something, not a stern, joyless version of the "Moka-san" "Tsukune" routine.

That "Moka-san/Tsukune" routine is as bland as watered-down soup. This is just one instance where it pays to have Akashiya Moka in the series.

What did we learn from ep 13 of Rosario + Vampire Capu2?  That this show isn't very good at the whole "plot" thing.  Oh wait, we knew that already.

What was with that inexplicable change in animation style in this ep?  Did Gonzo blow their budget again?

Episode 13

An army of dechu, a hailstorm of bronze pan and drifting snow~

- They must be fake; it's just impossible if they're real.
- EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...
- Ans: "Given how boring you were, most definitely yes."

- Aww, she's adorably cute.
- If I thought this was nasty, then guess what this would be? Yep, it's so WRONG.

So ends a crappy series with campy fun, thriving fanservice, priceless moments and a subject of my dissection and constant ridicule. I didn't notice the difference in the animation for the last episode but, well, it doesn't matter to me much. Although the overall plot is a big mess, I'll rate this series a little better than the prequel for two things: the funky opening sequence and the priceless moments (which I feel is more this time). Also, I had a lot of fun stomping on the series, both in a good and bad way.

SK, will you be writing a review on Capu2, given how you already wrote the prequel?

No way.  I've had my fill of this series in all honesty.
