Title: Slumdog Millionaire

I finally got around to seeing the film that won a slate of Golden Globes, and it turned out to be great.  It's an against all odds story, and is highly romantic, but what makes it worthwhile is it's portrayal of the Mumbai slums, and how the two brothers struggle to survive from day to day.  Their escapades make for some great stories, and the directing does a great job of telling those stories.  The concept of using a game show to put the spotlight on India in a time of rapid development is a really creative one, but the plot itself, as Jamal inevitably beats each question one at a time, starts to become a bit predictable and tacky, especially towards the end, and the whole thing is, essentially, a constant exercise in extending suspension of disbelief.  But, if you take it all in, coincidences and all, the reward is an ending that's both incredibly dramatic and incredibly romantic.  So, is it Oscar worthy?  No, not in my opinion.  Is it worth seeing?  Definitely.

The Usual Suspects

M. Night Shamylan wishes he could make a twist like the one in this movie. Holy balls I didn't see that one coming at all!

In my drunken stupor, my friends and I had the "great" idea of searching Wal-Marts and Targets for a copy of the Power Rangers Movie XD.

Mighty Morphing Power Rangers! The Movie!

I think my inner child died a little last night. I remember thinking the graphics and visuals were amazing!... I fell to the floor laughing and crying so hard. Still an awesome soundtrack, still an awesome story (no matter how cheesy), and come on, it's Power Rangers! Oh the days of my youth.

Mandingo: 7/10: Intense and a really hard to watch. Also, I've never been so happy to have been a product of the north.

G Savior: 3/10: This movie, while not as horrible as everyone claims it is, but it is absolutely lame. This movie in no way captures the spirit of Mobile Suit Gundam, and really is little more than a B movie.

Time Bandits: 6/10: Mildly entertaining, though way too slow moving.

Blazing Saddles: 8/10: Absolutely hilarious. I don't remember ever laughing so much at racism before.

Broadcast News: 7/10: An incredibly well written comedy. Oddly enough its good writing is somewhat of a downfall because the whole thing is more or less just an array of snappy dialog. Among the greatest lines, "You'll never make more than $19,000 a year."

Robin Hood Men in Tights: 8/10: No one can eviscerate a genre quite like Mel Brooks

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure:
9/10: An absolutely bodacius movie. Watch it!

The American Astronaut: 5/10: I am not really a fan of musicals to begin with, and this really didn't help. It may have been funny and finely written, but it basically went nowhere and took until a dance off 25 minutes in to get off its feet.

Network - 8.5/10 - Classic. Get off your asses and go outside :D

Sex Drive - 7/10 - Unrated version has an excess of random tits. So worth it.

5th Element - 9/10 - I still love this movie. MULTI. PASS. <3

Body of Lies - 6/10 - I don't get it. Stupid Russell Crowe being all faggoty.

Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10 - Nice story and I can see why it won so many Oscars. I loved the way they told his story.

Frost/Nixon - 9.5/10 - I thought it was better than Slumdog. Aussies :D<3:D For you SK ;)

Watchmen

After seeing it a couple days ago, I'll say that it was a thoroughly satisfying albeit flawed experiance. It was almost three hours which is a deterrent off the spot. The overall acting was meh at best. It was a little convoluted, and lacked much in terms of emotion. On the other hand, it was fun to watch. The action was intense, especially when it went overboard. Also, Rorchake and Dr. Manhattan were especially well portrayed. If I had to rate this, it would be a 7/10 or a 7.5 on a more lenient scale. At the very least, it is good enough to compel anyone to read the graphic novel.

Title: Appaloosa

while it was slow and utterly not what i had expected, there was a certain charm to it and its originality was refreshing for a western. but thats all i have to say... i wasnt wowed by it or what it had to offer, it was a movie, i watched it, and thats all i feel ill remember about it a year from now.

Rating: 6.5/10

Simpsons the Movie 6/10
It's the usual Simpsons fun that I paid to see.

There Will Be Blood 9/10
Incredible acting by Daniel Day Lewis.  It was the butcher from Gangs of New York who oozed vitriol and took deep (but hollow) pleasure from it.

I recommend Mobile Suit, RX-0 and Unicorn from the Unicorn OST.

Detroit Metal City - 7/10

It was hilarious; Matsuyama has showed that he can play a comical character just as well as any of his previous roles. While some of the scenes are just cheesy, others are side-splitting, especially Negishi's sissy outbursts and the Death Records president's cigarette gags. I was surprised by how some events were tweaked because while some are for the better - the drama in the climax did put in some seriousness in the frivolous fun - others left some of the plot a little disjointed. Plus, the movie is a lot tamer than the original source.

Despite all that, the movie was certainly enjoyable.

I concur SK. Excellent choice!

Watchmen - 7/10 - Too much penis. Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II were way too stale. Rorschach was absolutely perfect though.

I concur Seven. He makes Nolan's Batman looks like a sissy!

Understatement of the month haha. Rorschach was the only reason I sat through the last 2 hours of the movie. Otherwise I would have been leaving every 10 minutes to piss because christ I had way too much to drink before I got to the theatre.
