Not really. The fact that they actually went through with her laws when they could've just easily rejected them isn't on Kino. It's not her fault that the people she comes across in these countries are extreme representations of bizarre ideas.

Enh.  This is the therapist dilemma though.  If a psychiatrist who is treating a psychopath and knows they're a violent killer leaves a loaded gun on the table and leaves the room, then they're culpable for any deaths that psychopath inevitably causes.  She knew what she was doing with that rule.  Now, maybe only the most bloodthirsty deviants would have gone through with it.  If the guard was any indication, not everybody really liked this shit, and I think that's what her ultimate goal was:  get rid of the pricks so the good people could take over.

I stand by my comment, and the great thing about her character is that she got mad at herself for it.

I personally don't really care all that much about how this episode was severely cut-down in comparison to the 2003 counterpart really since I've only just rewatched that series in preparation for this one a couple of months ago. The only thing didn't like about this was how the King had all the scenes in which he wasn't just some pompous prop entirely removed so it was a lot less gratify to see his head blown to bits this time around. That said, I forgot the real reason why this was included at all, the fact this is where in the novels Shizu was introduced, and that's a bit of a big deal going forward.

By the end of this, Kino has more blood on her hands than many villains

There is zero to talk about here.  It is your standard CGDCT show in a workplace with hijinks.  It is amusing, but not spectacularly funny.  I find it somewhat odd this is the A-1 pictures show this season.

This is more like it, though that bit at the end there sure escalated quickly.

I'm just perplexed by the derpy aliens. Seems like a too-serious Rick and Morty scene right there: why were they even obliged to even replace two humans with their weaponry? But why tho.

Great, now I have to change my dialogue.

Rick:  "Wh.. what the hell happened?"
Morty:  "Uh, nothing!  I think I might have bumped into something on landing."
Rick:  "If by bumped into 'something' you mean this obliterated carcass of circa 1988 Phil Donahue you splattered all over this park, then yes, you 'bumped' into 'something', Morty."
Morty:  "Ah jeez, Rick!  I didn't even see him!  Y'know!  He just... he just jumped right out in front of me."
Rick:  "I'm pretty sure a geriatric Japanese guy with more stomach cancer than stomach couldn't just jump out in front of you.  I taught you to drive this thing so you could get us home while I'm passed out drunk, or high, or both, or if I just want to fake being asleep so I don't have to talk to you.  Especially the last one.  You're not supposed to use it like a Nan King survivor out for revenge."
Morty:  "Wha-what're we gonna do, Rick?  We just can't leave him like this.  I killed a poor old Japanese guy!  I wont ever be able to play DDR again!"
Rick:  "Calm down Morty!  Everything is gonna be fine!  All I have to do is take the little bits of this guy's whatever here and put into a cybernetic body, Morty!  He'll be completely reborn as a cyborg with no memory of any of this!  He'll go on with his life perfectly fine and ignorant for the rest of his natural life, Morty!"
Morty:  "But, wont he notice when he doesn't have to eat, or pee, or anything?"
Rick:  "Nah, Japanese people are passive wussies.  He'll just think it's the stomach cancer.  Now let's see what I have in the trunk here.... ahhh ha ha ha!  There we go!  I forgot all about this little baby."
Morty:  "Does that thing have guns?"
Rick:  "Yeah!  It's my super deluxe combat cyborg chassis I had built to replace Jerry with if he ever betrayed me to the Galactic Federation and Beth couldn't handle the separation.  Oh right, that happened and I forgot to do that."
Rick does some Rick things.
Rick:  "There!  It's done!  Now let's get the hell out of here, Morty.  Oh and you drive, I, uh, I wanna take a nap over here."

Yeah, this show is as shounen as it gets. You can practically change the theme from wizardry to pirates, and this show basically becomes One Piece (even down to Asta's finally: "I'm going to be the Pirate Wizard King!").

I'm having way too much on my plate this season, which is becoming more interesting with shows that are grabbing my attention. And I haven't watched the first episode for all the remaining ones yet.

Dropped.

Wow.

I'm not sure which one impressed me more. Evidently, this show is going blitzkrieg over the production values, sometimes a little too much. I get it why some scenes are CGI-animated, but why do so even for the mundane ones like Ichirou getting up or something?

Another is just how the whole story is set up. Notice how perfect this show did a job at capturing the quintessential Japanese passive-depressive lifestyle for the first eight minutes? And then some weird shit happens and Old Man Jenkins becomes War Machine. Despite the whole high jinks, one line captured what the show is all about: "I'm human". The first half shows just 'inhuman' life can be, aka the apathetic society, and here this old guy finally regains his sense of humanity despite ironically being anything but human.

I'm just perplexed by the derpy aliens. Seems like a too-serious Rick and Morty scene right there: why were they even obliged to even replace two humans with their weaponry? But why tho.

I'm sensing that this will be the sleeper hit of the season, the unlikely hero just like Ichirou... so quirky but charming at the same time.

It seems every 'country' has an anti-Titan wall. I would sure like to see post Trump anti-Mexico wall when Kino drop by Unite States

How creative.

This show is pretty AF, and I guess that's the main appeal of the show. But I also have to give it to the premises: I haven't come across any show before that uses gems quite like this before. Very interesting setup in overall although it's basically a mahou shoujo genre with some familiar plot developments. I'm just not sure how the gem theme will influence how the plot develops. Plus, I'm usually against CGI animation because it's often awkward but so far this show is doing a good job at making sure it's fluid. Still not sure too much focus is only on the aesthetics (such shows tend to focus a lot on looks at the expense of the story), so only time will tell.

I imagine all the geoscience fans having wet dreams about this show. I'll stick around for while for the setup. And the hair. And them hot pants.
