Title: Town of Salem
Post by: The_Outsider on November 03, 2014, 04:43:49 PM
Wondering if you guys have discovered this little gem of a game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Town_of_Salem). It's inspired by the SC2 Mafia mod.

Basically there are two phases, Night and Day, and 3 types of roles: Town, Mafia and Neutrals.

Town are basically the "good guys". Mafia are the main faction opposing the Town. During the Night the Mafia kill one person, and perform other duties that mess up the Town. Their end goal is to kill all innocents and live.

The town have to try and find who is innocent and who is guilty - during the day you may vote against a person, and if enough people vote him up and vote guilty, he will be hanged. Their end goal is to kill all guilty people and live.

Neutrals consist of wacky stuff like Serial Killers, Arsonists and Survivors etc.

It's browser-based, and pretty fun, full of mindgames, deceit and killing. So I'd advise you check it out if that's your sort of thing.

My lord and savior Trump featured this game on his youtube channel. I played the crap out of the original SC2 mod, in the era before the silly dragon triad came about. It's a great game, and all sorts of hilarious things can happen.

I think this takes the cake for me:

On the first day, a random townie types "BEEP BEEP BEEP N**GER DETECTOR ACTIVATED. SCANNING PLAYER 8...N**GER DETECTED, LYNCH HIM."

All 14 players instantly and unanimously voted to lynch the guy, and he was a member of the mafia. The game continued like this for the rest of the game, and we were all laughing too hard to discuss leads and whatnot. Town won, it was epic.
