Twelve Kingdoms on the Horizon

Today’s pair of reviews feature a pair of intricate worlds. In the first, Kaikyaku looks at one of her favorite series, The Twelve Kingdoms, and she praises the stellar world building and the growth and interactions of the characters. Meanwhile, Shadowmage has a look at the first season of Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. While he appreciates the quality of animation and some of the cast, the story is so convoluted and bizarre that it can be off-putting.

Speaking of Horizon, check out our mid-season impressions of the summer, which includes the second season of Horizon, among other series!

I fully agree with Kaikyaku about The Twelve Kingdoms. It is one of the rare anime series that presents a full, well-done story line with character development that takes an appropriate amount of time. It’s definitely a series that any true anime fan should have in their DVD or Blu-Ray collection.
