Takahashi Ryōsuke

While I have only seen a few of his works, I do have fair amount of respect for Takahashi Ryōsuke and his involvement in the real robot genre in the ’80s.  Though not as prominent as let’s say Tomino he’s an important figure that helped shaped the course of the mecha genre if not the entire  anime medium itself.

I find it to be such a shame that the shows he spearheaded have not matched masterpieces of his contemporaries.  Kavik Ryx gives one of Takahashi’s older works Armor Hunter Merowlink a relatively warm reception, and I give one of his newer products Blue Gender a shrug (“newer” as in “I was actually alive when the thing came out”).
