Slaughtering and pillaging; reavering and sundering. The life of a pirate is for me! …Yeah, I got bored. Anyway, here’s our two newest reviews, both of which are about Ironmen from the Iron Islands pirates, though of a very different kind from those depicted in typical fantasy. First is Shinmaru‘s review of Mouretsu Pirates, followed by Reckoner‘s thoughts on Last Exile: Fam the Silver Wing.

Last Exile Fam really was terrible wasn’t it? Because the first series was so good, I tried so hard to like the show, and I manage to fool myself for some time, but reading the review, I can’t deny any of it, and it deserves it to. What a disappointment.
I actually haven’t seen it, but people are telling me that if I’m a fan of the original (which I am), I should just avoid watching Fam.
All I know is that Last EXILE: Fam Fan Fan (urgh, what a stupid name) bored the hell outta me.
Kylaran, take their advice, please, don’t disappoint yourself.
@AC, boredom just isn’t the appropriate word for me, about episode 12 when I finally gave up I was just left feeling apathetic and disappointment. For me it went past simply boredom.
Yeah I was a big LE fan too, so seeing this effort was extremely disappointing. Gonzo did use to make some great titles in the past every now and then, but this definitely solidified in my mind why exactly they went into financial restructuring in the first place.
The OST was actually quite good on it’s own merit and it was unfortunate it had to carry the anime when that is not it’s job to do so. Other then that, Last Exile: Fam was awful and I am surrpised you weren’t more scathing since it was just that bad and deserving of it. Most definitely one of the biggest disappointments for me and the show may as well not have have had the Last Exile moniker to it.
