Come to Think of It, Anime Exaggerates a Lot

Hyperbole can be used in a series to great effect, rendering some perhaps hidden nugget of truth in a grand manner such as to draw one’s attention to the concept. At the same time, done wrong and in large amounts, it can serve to alienate the viewer. Our first review today, Bakuman 2, hits the nail on the head with its comedy and drama, highlighting the difficulties facing professional manga artists. Ascaloth notes that where the series fails though, is its treatment of a simplistic and idealized romance and stereotypical. Next we have AC‘s thoughts on High School DxD, tries to bait in its target audience by bombarding viewers with boobs, panties, and all kinds of visually exaggerated body parts. Unfortunately, it ends up just numbing the viewer.
