Cutey Home Run

Baseball and magical girls are two great flavors that go great together. OK, not really. Still, we’ve brought you reviews of those types of shows, anyway! Kaikyaku takes a look at an adaptation of one of manga author Adachi Mitsuru‘s many baseball series, H2. Unfortunately, the show ends just as it’s getting going — it adapts the beginning of the series and little more, leaving an unsatisfying experience for the amount of time the viewer must invest. Meanwhile, I review Cutey Honey, the first adaptation of Go Nagai‘s seminal magical girl series. The show is rough around the edges, but there are interesting aspects to it, particularly the visual direction, which is executed with a surreal flair.

And be sure to check out our first thoughts on the shows of the summer season!
