I have reached my upper limit with J.C. Staff’s iterations of cute girls heading what are effectively shounen action anime, but with a bit of Casshern SINS‘s influence in the mix, Yumekui Merry cracks the usual mold.   The only drawback the show has is that it fails to outright shatter it.

Something that redefines the mold altogether is well-aged movie Neo Tokyo.  It’s not a spectacular realization of its concepts or ideas, but it’s nonetheless worth watching.
